The Karaak (Red tail cockatoo) is an iconic symbol of wildlife in the Southwest. When you stumble upon one in the bush with its brilliant flashes of red, it's a special occasion for sure. These birds are believed to be the guides and guardians of the spirits of loved ones on their journey to rest amongst the Ancestors. I found these two (Redtail feather and Carnaby feather) on a walk through the bush in the Perth Hills in 2019.
