Watercolour on paper, 2025
Ngolark (Carnaby Black Cockatoo) and Kaarak (Redtail Black Cockatoo) both hold great significance in Noongar lore. Interpretations and meaning of these birds vary amongst different cultural and language groups of First nation Australians. For anyone residing in the Southwest these birds are a sentimental and treasured part of our forests. Both feathers were found during time I spent in the bush around Balingup. The Carnaby feather belongs to a flock that flies up and down the Blackwood River by the South Hampton bridge.
